COUNSELLING SERVICE

From time to time, most people will experience difficulties and painful events in their lives, at home and at work. You may be dealing with a particular crisis or life transition, struggling to cope with relationship difficulties, or experiencing a particularly stressful working environment. Within the context of a supportive relationship, problems are explored, thoughts and feelings expressed and possibilities for the future considered.

Counselling doesn’t provide a simple or magical answer to problems. The process isn’t always easy, but many people find that their experience of working with a counsellor enables them to develop greater understanding of troubling feelings and unhelpful patterns of behaviour and to consider possibilities for moving forward.  It's a safe, confidential place to offload.

Central to providing space and support is building a trusting relationship between counsellor and client. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and many years experience as a counsellor, working with adults and young people in GP's surgeries, schools, and private practice.  I help clients to engage with the present, reflect on the past and consider possibilities for the future.  Counselling is for anyone and everyone, for a few sessions or over a longer period of time.  I have experience in telephone counselling and, in due course and with all necessary Covid-19 precautions in place, I will resume seeing clients face-to-face.

People come to talk about a wide variety of things, including:
  • Anxiety
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression
  • Feeling sad
  • Panic attacks
  • Work-related stress
  • Stress
  • Relationship Issues
  • Low Self-Esteem
Counselling takes place in my tranquil and comfortable consulting room which is easily accessible from the M4, A329M, and Reading town centre, and equally accessible by public transport.  Car parking available.
It's so good to know that I can get support when I need it - for me and for my staff.
A big 'thank you'! Headteacher
